FORT WAYNE KOMETS - IHL CHAMPIONS

The Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Muskegon Lumberjacks 4-1 Friday night to capture tthe 2008 - 2009 Turner Cup Championship.The Komets won the series 4-1 to earn their first back-to-back championships in their 57-year franchise history.
David Hukalo was named the International Hockey League’s Turner Cup Playoff Most Valuable Player. He scored four goals and dished out three assists in the championship series, netting a hat trick in game two. He posted a total of 16 points (eight goals, six assists) and a plus-6 rating in the 11 playoff games played by the Komets.

IHL TURNER CUP SCHEDULE

The International Hockey League (IHL) released Monday the final round schedule for the 2009 IHL Turner Cup Playoffs.  The Fort Wayne Komets will face-off against the Muskegon Lumberjacks in a best-of-seven series for their chance to hoist the Turner Cup.

FORT WAYNE AND MUSKEGON IN IHL FINAL

The Fort Wayne Komets needed six games to defeat the Kalamazoo Wings to earn their second consecutive trip to the Turner Cup Finals. The Komets won Saturday night by a score of 5-3, earning their 13th IHL Turner Cup Finals appearance in franchise history. Fort Wayne won the series 4-2.
 

The Muskegon Lumberjacks defeated the Port Huron Icehawks by a score of 5 to 2 Saturday night to also move on to the 2009 Turner Cup Finals. The Lumberjacks won the series 4-2.
